Words by Bartek Wilk The review was originally printed in Reykjavík On Stage (Issue 2) When I think of the most fragile Icelandic artist, Sóley Stefánsdóttir is the first name that comes to my mind. I’ve been a fan of her talent since Seabear, always impatiently waiting for any new song she’s recorded. It’s been two years sinceher latest album Ask The Deep, following which EP Don’t Ever Listen came out. Incredibly good, stunningly dark, and deeply personal are words to describe the first album mentioned above. It was the quintessence of her image that I’ve painted in my mind through the years. The image of an unbelievably sensitive and empathetic person, who cares the most about the world, reaching its deepest evil. Maybe it doesn’t look like summer has already arrived in Reykjavík but at least Icelandic music is ready to blossom like crazy. Next Friday, May 5th, 3 great artists release their new albums. One of them is Ásgeir with his second album entitled Afterglow. Then Sóley is back with her 3rd LP Endless Summer. At the same day Milkywhale releases their début album! Catch a glimpse at this wonderful Friday music below! Stardust is another single from Ásgeir´s brand new album, Afterglow. Ásgeir on Facebook Sóley has enchanted listeners around the globe with her dark, fairytale song craft. Sóley on Facebook Milkywhale is a brand new music project by choreographer Melkorka Sigríður Magnúsdóttir and musician Árni Rúnar Hlöðversson. Slow down for a second and give a try to 9 new Icelandic songs that were released in March. What happened then, you would ask. HAM comes back with new single Vestur Berlín. Sólstafir revealed another single from the up-coming album entitled Bláfjall. Low Roar recorded a song with JFDR called Bones. Sin Fang, Örvar Smárason and Sóley presented another part of their monthly collaboration – Wasted. Ösp Eldjarn´s debut album is out and you can enjoy soothing sounds of Bak við fossinn.
